HEYOOO! I'm Barbarah!

I am an engagement, wild elopements, and wedding photographer currently based out of Washington, D.C. I grew up in Haiti then I was adopted to the best family in Upstate New York when I was 13. I am now married to the sweetest and best person I have ever met. We have a little babe, Lincoln, who we’re absolutely obsessed with. On rainy days you can find me cuddled up on the couch next to my Finnish husbabe, Matias, sipping on coffee, and watching our favorite rainy day movie series "Lord of the Rings". I love the diversity and the differences in culture that's now a huge part of our marriage. I love traveling, camping out, eating brownies but always with vanilla ice cream, snowboarding, and you can pretty much call me plant-lady-in-training. 

I begged my parents for a camera for my 14th birthday which deemed me the family photographer at every family vacation and reunion. I have always been passionate about entrepreneurship, bringing innovative and creative ideas to life. Don't worry, I've updated gear A LOT since I was 14! :) I now shoot with a Canon 6D. 

 Two years ago I discovered my great love for photographing couples and their love stories in fun, unique and authentic ways. I currently shoot mostly weddings, engagements, and elopements while my downtime is spent shooting lifestyle sessions with some of my favorite bloggers.

I want to capture real love, not the posed moments or forcing your partner to smile kinda love. I like to take my couples out for a drink before their session, because let's face it: we are all a little bit more comfortable being the real us in front of a camera after a glass of wine or two. During every session I am out to get the candid, authentic, and wild moments. So let's get quirky, dance, get a little sarcastic, loving, and adventurous! Let's make this fun!

 CONGRATULATIONS! YOU MADE THE FIRST MAJOR DECISION TO MARRY YOUR PERSON, NOW LET ME HELP MAKE THE PHOTOGRAPHY DECISIONS EASY FOR YOU!

INITIAL EMAIL

After I receive your first email, I will get right back at you with answers but also some questions of my own. I like to talk to talk about budgets, because let's be real, wedding expenses add up. So even if my prices aren't close to what you imagined spending, let's talk anyways. It may not always be possible, but we can always try. 

BOOKING

Are we a good fit? Do you like me yet? I am pretty sure you do! This is the step where we both agree that we could be friends in real life.  So at this point, you'll receive a contract and a retainer invoice to lock me in for your wedding date! It's $1000 to lock me in as your wedding photographer, and your final payment is due 30 days before your wedding date. 

ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Our friendship is now official, like Facebook official! Which means that after we've reserved and booked your wedding, let's discuss your engagement photos. I highly recommend that you document this season of your life because it flies by. This is also a great time for you, me, and your fiance to get to know each other before I see you on the wedding day! 

PRE-WEDDING QUESTIONNAIRE

Can you believe we're only a few weeks away from your wedding?! You've probably planned more details since when you first started, so I like to send a pre-wedding questionnaire a month before your wedding so we can start working on your wedding day timeline. I think it's important that you tell me what details are of most important to you, names of your bridal gang, a shot list for the day (because I may not know who your uncle Jim is and that he needs to be in the family photos) and a list of your vendors.  The timeline will not only place me at the right locations where I need to be to get all the right shots, but it will also help you set your day to make everything go smoothly!

IT'S WEDDING TIME!

Yassss! We're FINALLY HERE! It's show time! I will be there with you every step of the way, whether it's to hold your veil or to carry your bouquet! We've got this! And, friends don't let friends wait too long for pictures of their wedding day to share with family and friends > > So I will send you a mini-gallery of sneak peeks the day after your wedding so you can relive your favorite moments!

ONLINE GALLERY DELIVERY

Well, this is it. Approximately 3-5 weeks after your wedding I will send you a full online gallery of your photos! And you know how we tend to delay making photo albums?! #amiright? I will take that off your hands: just let me know if you'd like an album and I will start on the design process for ya!
